Welcome to Cedar Class – Year 6
The summer term is here and we are looking forward to our new topic – a local study of Hemingford Manor. Our residential is at Hilltop near Sheringham after half term and we have our end of Y6 play, assembly, barbecue and Church service to complete our Holywell memories.
On Tuesday 12th March we visited Chiquitos in Huntingdon to learn all about Mexican food. First we tasted tortilla chips with salsa, guacomole and sour cream, then we made our own burritos. They were delicious.
Pancake tossing fund raiser organised by our HSA to raise funds for an all weather running track.
In February we took part in the St Ives Rotary Club Quiz. Here are some of the team who helped us come 4th.
The Folk group ‘The Young Uns’ delivered workshops based around our British Values. The subject was Bert Trautmann, the Manchester City football player. It was a fascinating story. Back in class we wrote songs about his life.
Every Thursday morning we have our violin and viola lessons. It was very difficult at first but now we are making lots of progress and some very musical sounds.
Using stop-motion animation we created pieces based on our Frozen Kingdom topic. We really enjoyed making them and hope you enjoy them too.
‘The Young Uns’ visited our school and told us the amazing story of Bert Trautmann. We enjoyed the workshop about British Values so much, we spent the day writing songs based on his life.
Here we are singing them for our parents on Thursday 4th April. We also played our violins and violas for them to demonstrate how much we have progressed over the term and performed our Mexican dances.
We all enjoyed the music performed by ‘Megson’ who visited our school recently. They demonstrated how wonderful it is to sing and tell a story through song. Two of the Y6 Radio Crew were thrilled to interview the couple for our school radio.
